Today’s featured column is a bit like yesterday’s in that the author is poking holes in his party’s talking points. I love pieces like this because they don’t just expose party spin. They expose the alarmism at the heart of that spin. That doesn’t mean one shouldn’t be skeptical of Washington goings-on. Absolutely be skeptical of them — that’s what they’re there for. But the party-sponsored alarmism of the past thirty years has gotten us nowhere. It’s time to move on from it, just like today’s author.
