I’ve mentioned before that I believe the focus on students protesting the Israel-Hamas war is a distraction from the conflict. Is it worth covering on occasion? Sure, but not to the extent it has been in that context.

Is it worth covering in the context of freedom of speech, though? Absolutely. And with recent, poorly reviewed Congressional testimony from several university presidents regarding campus speech, we have another lens through which to view these First Amendment concerns. Our piece today does a phenomenal job of not just assessing the matter, but clarifying it.

I walk away from virtually all the columns here thinking, “I see where they’re coming from, and I see how someone could still disagree.” I’m open to hearing disagreements with today’s piece. I just don’t know what they could be.
