The Israel-Hamas war has entered its third month, and the conversation around it is as heated as ever. I haven’t read a column yet that isn’t suffused with emotion, which is understandable, but it doesn’t leave much room for an actual conversation.
I regret to say today’s column isn’t without emotion. The author’s frustration is palpable. But his position is well-reasoned, and I can’t imagine thoughtful people from either side of the debate would disagree with his end goal. The issue is achieving that goal, though. And therein lies the source of the writer’s exasperation. Because as long as hotter heads prevail in dictating the war’s direction, it could stretch on not just for weeks or months, but generations.
