One of the biggest problems with today’s pundits is their refusal to consider the political opposition’s concerns. At best, they downplay them. At worst, they distort them. This leaves the two parties speaking past each other, often in different languages.

A goal of One Daily Link is to provide each party with an honest accounting of the other’s priorities. While the worst actors on both sides can inflate their concerns to apocalyptic proportions, that’s not cause to dismiss the core issue. Even if we ultimately decide the issue isn’t a top priority, giving it thoughtful consideration puts us in a better position to explain our own beliefs, which in turn makes our own arguments more persuasive. If we fail to convince those with whom we disagree, though, it’s not the end of the world. At least we’re speaking the same language again. That’s a victory in its own right.
