When I talk about this site’s mission to highlight thoughtful commentary across the political spectrum, most people people say, “You must have a hard time finding good commentary from [their opposition party].” It’s an understandable response given how relentlessly each party vilifies the other (I’m as guilty of it as anyone), yet columns like today’s prove it doesn’t need to be our gut reaction. Each party has plenty of commentators capable of basing their opinions on all aspects of a matter, not just the ones favoring their side. Today’s piece is among the most impressive examples of this I’ve seen in some time.
