As I was gearing up to start One Daily Link, my elevator pitch to people was “Half the columns we post will tell you you’re right. The other half won’t call you an idiot.” That line was purely aspirational. I had no idea if there were any political columnists respectful of the other side. Ankush Khardori was one of the first writers I discovered who proved there were, and I’ve looked forward to his work ever since.
Being a former federal prosecutor, Khardori is of course concerning himself with the Trump indictments, and he does so in his characteristically thoughtful way. This isn’t a takedown of Donald Trump — we have far, far too many of those already. This is an examination of the indictment, both on its own and through the lens of the upcoming election. Any speculation is well-reasoned, not emotional, which means his conclusions are honest, not hysterical. And through it all, he remains respectful of those with whom he disagrees. He’s the kind of political writer we should all prioritize reading. I hope you enjoy.
