We woke up thoroughly dreading finding a link for today. Doomsday predictions of a Supreme Court decision that never came still stuck in our craw. Add to that multiple baseless claims of the weaponization of government (the FBI director is a Trump-appointed Republican), countless pronouncements of a war on religion (the Court just announced its 9-0 decision in favor of religious rights), and unrelenting prognostications about the end of democracy (we’re still standing), and it’s a miracle we got out of bed.
We’re glad we did. Because, today, law professor Kim Wehle gifted us with that great unicorn of political commentary — a member of one party praising a member of the other. What’s more, she singles out for praise someone her party holds in particularly low esteem. And if that isn’t all shocking enough, she appears to do it freely. No equivocations or backhanded compliments. Just a straightforward well done. To which we would tell Wehle, “Well done.”
And thank you.
