I originally intended to post this column on Memorial Day, but it’s so spectacular that it seemed better to post it now so readers could have all weekend to mull it over. If you look at the dateline, you’ll see Theodore R. Johnson wrote this last Memorial Day. I posted it then, resolving to post it every year around this time because it’s just that great.
There’s nothing I can say about the column that it doesn’t say a thousand times better. I’ll only add a personal note, which is that I think of this piece often, not just the last Monday of May. Give it a look. My guess is it will stick with you long after you read it, too.
