It’s tough to find pundits who don’t believe the world would agree with them if the other side just stopped talking. So when one comes along, it’s important to grab hold and never let go. A.B. Stoddard is one such pundit.

I’ll be the first to admit Stoddard veers off the rails when it comes to most things Trump, and I refuse to post those columns. But when it comes to surveying the political landscape, Stoddard is almost always on point. That’s because she’s willing to concede not everyone is a Democrat at heart. She knows centrist voters could be inclined to pull the lever for the GOP in next week’s off-year elections, especially if the party settles on a moderate abortion platform. Maybe that’s a big if, but Stoddard’s smart enough to see it’s possible. We’ll see if the Democratic Party machine is smart enough to see it, too.
