Few news topics highlight our fractured media more than Hunter Biden’s business dealings. Right-leaning media says the connection to the president is obvious and deeply problematic. Left-leaning media says the connection is trumped up, even nonexistent. Hindering the right’s argument is the fact that their evidence never matches their exuberance. Hindering the left’s argument is the fact that the president’s line on the matter keeps changing in subtle but not insignificant ways.

I’ve tended to avoid posting about the topic because neither side exhibits much nuance dealing with it. Even today’s columnist sometimes gets swept up discussing it. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t a story worth keeping track of. There are occasionally developments. And while this week’s developments aren’t the smoking gun the right was hoping for, they aren’t the nothing burger the left claims they are either. All this is to say, turn off the pundits and listen to the people who actually know what they’re talking about.
